How many of you Bible thumpers would dare to show the degree of disrespect that you display to Jesus's mother, to the mother of say Pat Robertson or Billy Graham or Joel Osteen by treating her like she was just some nobody if you were invited to their homes and the mother was present ? Some day you may be placed in the situation to understand that Jesus really doesn't appreciate you treating His mother like she was just some bag lady.

  1. Exactly! Personally, I don't think there are very many things that offend Him more.

    "Anyone who neglects Our Lady will perish in his sins!" -St. Bonaventure

    If such is the penalty for neglecting her, what then is the penalty for attacking and denigrating her?

    Star for you.

    Dave

  2. i don't disrespect the mother.  i just don't believe she deserve that level of worship.  i worship jesus christ not his mother.

  3. I am not anti-Catholic. Did God ever ask us to venerate Mary, the mother of Jesus? I do not see it anywhere. I do not think Catholics worship Mary but it sure is pretty close to that. You can talk directly to God, no middle men is needed

  4. These are the words of Jesus Christ himself,

    Mark 3:31-35

    31 Then His MOTHER and His brothers came and, standing outside, they sent word to Him, calling [for] Him.

        32 And a crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, Your mother and Your brothers and Your sisters are outside asking for You.

        33 And He replied, Who are My mother and My brothers?

        34 And looking around on those who sat in a circle about Him, He said, See! Here are My mother and My brothers;

        35 For whoever does the things God wills is My brother and sister and mother!

    He was making a point.

    While the people put soooo much emphasis on who was his immediate family and to be honored by allowing them to come through when they were calling him to come meet them, he says instead- the people who were RIGHT there with him are who he called his own brother and sister and mother. His family.

    Do you think he was diminishing the importance of his own mother then? No. People put so much emphasis on his mother as if she is to be worshipped.

    People keep forgetting she had nothing to do with his conception becuase he was conceived of the holy spirit. She was CHOSEN by GOD himself. She could be respected...but then again, by no means more than you'd respect any other disciple like Paul or Billy Graham.

    The bible tells you to honor your father and mother. God himself says that it is very important. But what people are missing is the fact that Mary is not above God. She is not before God. Jesus died for her sins too. He was greater than her and always will be. she was nothing but a servant who was chosen to carry out a deed. No more than Moses was. She was blessed to carry Jesus in her womb, but even HE recognized who his family was. The body of Christ.

    Jesus said "He who loves and takes more pleasure in  their father or mother MORE than [in] Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves [and takes more pleasure in] son or daughter more than [in] Me is not worthy of Me;"

    Matthew 10:37

    How do you think he feels when people take more pleasure in his OWN earthly chosen mother over him?

  5. If you read in the Bible, when the disciples tell him that his mom and siblings were there, Jesus said, "who is my mother and brothers" to para phase it.  Mary was a special lady, but she was still a sinner, she recognized this fact herself.  Its not being anti Catholic if we don't agree with you, its called reading the Bible and understanding her role.

  6. The Bible teaches that Mary is no better, and no worse, than anyone else who follows God.

    Besides, Jesus himself denied that Mary, or any other human is his "Mother" or "Father" since God has no parents.

    You are quite mistaken.  God does not respect any one person more than any other:

    --------------------------

    While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you." He replied to him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. 50For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

    ~Matthew 12:46-49 (NIV)

    Then Jesus said to them, "How is it that they say the Christ is the Son of David? David himself declares in the Book of Psalms:

       " 'The Lord said to my Lord:

          "Sit at my right hand

      until I make your enemies

          a footstool for your feet." '

    David calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?"

    ~Luke 20:41-43 (NIV)

  7. What makes you think that you know how God feels? You are not God, and the Bible says that his thoughts are not the same as our thoughts.  Be careful when you claim to speak for God, because God my think that you are an impostor.

    And I don't think that anyone is going to convert to Roman Catholicism just because you tried to insult them; I would imagine that this will have the opposite effect of what you intended.

    ==edit==

    No one "insults" Mary, and no one "trashes" her.  You are making up lies and slander in order to insult anyone who isn't Catholic like you. You are the "moron"

    ==edit2==

    To "Laura Kay" below, thank you for you level headed approach to this, and I appreciate you trying to defend this guy, but he is obviously trying to slander Protestants by falsely claiming that we disrespect Mary, or that we trash her.  He is obviously misrepresenting the Protestant position on the idea of venerating saints, so he is doing the same thing to protestants that some Protestants do to Catholics and Orthodox.  This moron is hurting you cause, not helping it. No one is ever persuaded by "straw-man" arguments.

  8. He was to busy trying to solve the world through parables to worry just about his mom, but I'm sure he cared for her. But he said he cared for everyone equally, she wasn't anything but a normal human.  And Jesus was a man, and I don't know where he went, but he isn't floating in the air spying on all of our minds.

  9. "Well, at least the "Anti-Catholics" recognize who they are and responded."

    By "anti-Catholic", I think that everyone assumed that you meant anyone who isn't Catholic.

  10. I am not anti catholic but please read a King James Bible and look up Luke 11:27 "And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked."

    28 " But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it."

  11. Mary is dead. She cannot hear prayers and couldn't answer them even if she could.

  12. right on.

  13. Disrespect because we don't worship Mary?

    Only God is to be worshipped.

    Mary is not a goddess.

  14. I don't think He cares if people just try to make His mother seem less than what people make her out to be. :)

  15. Mat. 12:47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

      48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

      49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

    I assumed with these others that by Anti- Catholics you meant those who believe Mary was  a mere human being.
