I put additional money in of my glasses to get the glare off from Americas Best.

But there is still glare, but its green...I want to know if this isn't normal and is its gonna disappear after time, and if i take it back will Americas Best do anything about it,

i'm really fustrated because i want the glare to be totally gone.

  1. Your other answerer is correct in that there is no anti reflective treatment that completely removes all glare.  BUT, understand that just as in all things there are some products that are higher quality than others.  This is the case in cars, bicycles, lawn mowers, and anti reflectives.  Your higher quality antireflectives such as Crizal Alize dramatically reduce reflection and tend to have less noticeable color shifts on the surface.  There is ALOT of profit in selling antirelfectives if the optician uses an inferior quality antireflective and sells it at a higher price similar to the higher quality products.  Problem is, the patient really isn't able to know the difference.

  2. yes i agree with yag, the hint with ar coated lenses is the less visible the hue from them the better quality they are, like the crizal coating.i think what you are noticing is the actual colour of the coating and not effectiveness of the coating itself.

it's true they don't eliminate all the glare you will get.if your not happy with the results your getting from them, then go back and explain this issue to them.

what you can do is get a pair made of glasses made up with a light tint applied to them to help dull things down a bit for you,but keep it light as you don't want to look like an idiot indoors with a tint that is way too dark and put in a uv filter to there..

sometimes the way they ar coating is sold can be a bit of a hard sell and alot of people expect them to amazing when they first try them on are let down when they are not what they percieved them to be.

i don't think they should charge you for this either as the tinting cost is much less then the ar application.

  3. Antireflective coatings do not COMPLETELY remove reflections.  Typically they drastically reduce them and the reflections left over are greenish or blueish.  The only problem you might have is that you got antireflective from America's Best.  They only sell junk there.
