My bf want to try out the device that prevents corrosion from winter. They stick it to your car and It kinda sends a positive energy to prevent corosion (we are not sure). They sell this at Canadian Tire for approximately 200 - 250 $.

Does it REALLY works ???

  1. There are several of these items on the market. The issue with the corrosion of metal on a car is due to the fact that it is negative ground. This means that there are excess electrons on the metal surface and therefore they are available to aid in the formation of electrolysis. The excess electrons cause the metal to be more attractive to the oxygen molecule and therefore it rusts faster. The device that he is talking about sends a positive bias waveform into the metal of the body of the car. The positive charge is supposed to offset the negative. Does it work?? I don't know but there is one company that sells the good units and they offer a warranty that if your car rusts with their unit on it, they cover the repairs.

  2. If it is similiar to what is used on metal items in salt water, all it really is is a sacrificial metal that corrodes easier than the steel of the frame. On a motor vehicle it probably won't work as well as something that is always submerged, but it might slow the rusting if the vehicle is fairly new. What I know does work if there is no under body rust is to spray undercoat on the entire under body, except for around the exhaust and cat(it can be lit on fire from extreme heat over a long period of time). I've never used something like that myself, but it almost sounds like a gimmick, similar to the magnets that improve you fuel mileage and don't do a thing.
