Question:

Anti-Theft on my car??

I drive a 99 grand am and the other night I reversed out of my driveway, then I went to push on the accelerator and it wouldn't work? I had to shut my car off then turn it back on for it to get going again.

I live on a hill, so I really don't want this to happen again. My car started to roll back! How can I make sure I don't set it off again?

And I'm just assuming it's the anti-theft. What else can it be if not that? And how can I keep from setting off anti-theft?

Thanks!

  1. I don't think it would have anything to do with anti theft...

Maybe because you we're parked on a hill, the direction the fuel was not near the injector, so it recognized you as being out of gas?

I know if I'm driving, and I am low on fuel, and I hit a big hill, my car sputters until the car is level again..

  2. The anti-theft system in a Grand Am might prevent the engine from starting, but it won't cause a running engine to die or lose power.  (That would be an extreme safety hazard, if it was designed to work that way).  I think there's some other problem with your car.

  3. What you need to do is have the vehicles computer scanned to find out what is going as well as what is wrong..
