You had a daughter, you raised her well, she is bright, hard working and she applies for her dream job, which you know she can do...

And they turn her down because they don't want women of child bearing age, or they think men can do a better job? :-)

  1. I think a better question is, if my daughter applied for a job i knew she could do and was turned down for it, would i assume it was because she was a women of child bearing age or because they though a man could do a better job

The answer is no, i wouldn't think that is why i would tell her to apply to other places and read a book about job interviews before she goes next time

  2. How is it possible for an anti-feminist to raise a daughter well?

I would imagine most of them would be quite happy, as per Johno's answer.

  3. I'd stand up fir her and protest for her rights, though since you didn't give me a lot of details on the line of work I'm speaking in generalizations here.

Being an anti-feminist doesn't mean you're a misogynist. You can still believe the basic tenants of feminism without being a feminist (excepting all of the women's studies dogma they teach in universities).

  4. It illegal to discriminate because of gender, age, race, religion, ect... If the interviewer came out and told her she was not chosen because she was a woman then he would be an idiot.

  5. Brilliant.

Thank you for expressing something that has frustrated me constantly throughout my young career.

  6. I would pretend I was upset about it but deep down I would be glad a brother got the job.

    *Thanks sam

  7. My daughter is a bit like me in some aspects; she wouldn't let something like that get her down; for she knows that it means something better is just around the corner.

  8. My answer would be......... Good luck trying to do anything about it. If a person thinks that they are turned downed because of discrimination it can be a very hard thing to prove. No one is ever going to tell you why you weren't given your dream job especially because of age(child bearing years)

  9. True anti-fems just want equality! If they turn her down for a stupid reason then that is bad. I think she could do both but still should find a job that is suitable for women! Anti-fems think that fems are trying to take over because women get special treatment and they do! This is what we are made to believe. Both are unnessecary. Both are tools for manipulation brought to us by the global elite to create chaos!

  10. Nothing. I'd raise her to be tough and to fight her own fights.

Isn't this contradicting the belief of the independent and "strong" woman, the woman that fights her own fights without the help of a man?

  11. 1 -  I would congratulate her since businesses that hire based on anything other than what's best for business don't survive.

2  - The US doesn't have a guaranteed 12 month maternity leave policy, so it's less of an issue.

3  - A company would never say any of the things you mention, even if was true.

  12. She's just going to have to find another job.

I really don't think this happens a lot, and it will not happened in a few years, bright employers search bright people.

Nowadays, finding a job is very hard anyway.

  13. My daughter won't have any such problem and if she does, it's the employers loss.

I don't see the connection between anti-feminism and work place discrimination anyway. Is this another assumption about anti-feminists, are you saying that I'm pro-discrimination? All your questions come from a very narrow and judgmental view point, Eleanor B. Shame on you.

I think employers should be free to make their own minds up after all, it's their business. If I were to apply for a job I would expect to be discriminated against because my CV reflects a tendency to move from one country to another, that's life.

BTW, both of the female employers that I know, discriminate against women. One says that she will never hire a woman with kids again.

EDIT, What's that you're saying about me now Sam?

  14. I wouldn't want my duaghter working for a company that would turn her down because of her gender/age, so I would see it as a blessing that she did not get the job. She would see it as a blessing as well.

  15. its the truth

  16. You mean she gets hired because she's a woman even if the guy was more qualified and she gets paid maternity leave even though this will leave her co-workers with the extra work once she takes it.
