AntiVirus 2009 question

My stepdad ended up getting the antivirus 2009 on his computer and he ended up buying it. I am having a hard time finding anything on the internet about what happens after you buy it. If it's just a scam and it doesn't really work, then how do I tell him? Thanks.

  1. use manual removal instructions

  2. Your dad just got scammed, antivirus 2009 is not an antivirus, is a FAKE antivirus program that doesn;t find anything, it just loads your computer with advertisements and spyware, get rid of it ASAP

get a free antivirus, they are better than the ones that cost money, i recommend avast antivirus or avg antivirus, they both have free hoem editions available

also, download "ad-aware 2008 free edition" to get rid of any spyware that antivirus 2009 put in your computer

  3. You just got scammed badly.

if he wants a real antivirus

he should get avast or avg they are free...

    Avg- http://free.avg.com/

    chose any.. dont download both

  4. Delete following AntiVirus 2009 files :

  5. Man Its fake antivirus... Its 2008 not 2009 use 2008 or 2007

  6. This is a very bad, nasty infection. This is a fraudulent Security program that has many different names. AntiVirus 2008, AntiVirus 2009, AntiSpyware 2008, AntiSpyware 2009, Win AntiVirus XP 2008, Win AntiVirus XP 2009, AntiVirus Vista 2008, AntiVirus Vista 2009, Win AntiVirus Vista 2008, Win AntiVirus Vista 2009

This infection keylogs everything you do.  So if your dad has check bank account, checked email, entered in payment info to them.  Then everything he has is entered is now compromised.  He needs to change every user name & password to every account that he checked while this infect has been on the system.

Keep in mind to only change the credentials after the system is healthy.  I have helped someone who ended up spending over $300 giving it to them trying to remove the infections it says it finds.  Which are all  fraudulent claims. It will keep asking for more and more money to remore more and more stuff thats not infected.

In deleting those items it finds only makes it next to impossable to remove the infection.  Most of the time a full format and reinstall of windows is the key to this.

I would first start by installing either AVG and or Malwarebytes, they are free and both work good.  How ever if they do not work and you are still having issues you can check out this site for more help.  http://www.nicklockard.com
