I have been advised by my doctor not to go out in the sun while taking minocycline. Why is this? What can happen to you?

  1. Your skin becomes more sensitive to the sunlight when taking that antibiotic.  This increases your chance of skin cancer.  If you do go out in the sun for extended periods of time, just wear sunscreen.

  2. You will be light sensitive with this drug... as well, blistering can occur while taking this. Being out in the sun will make these matters worse and infect any blisters you might get. As well, you will burn very easily on this drug.

I recommend going with your doctors advice.
