Question:

Antique Folklore Books?

I'm looking for some antique folklore books, things that are very good, but maybe a little hard for the average person to get their hands on.

Also, does anyone have any information of something called "The Book of Pacts"? I haven't been able to find any info on it.

  1. For "The Book of Pacts"

HERMES Antiquarian in Copenhagen lists a first edition (1898--George Redway, London) for $1500. Same price listed for a slighly less good conditioned copy from Wild Hill Books, St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Iliad Bookshop in Chicago has a 1940 reprint for $218.

Quartermelon in the U. K. has a later reprint for $21.88.

For "The Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns, and Fairies"

Ambra Books in England lists a first edition for $1200 roughly--1893, published by David Nutt.

Eastleach Books in England lists a third printing, 1933, for $125.

A modern reprint from Dover Books is about $10.00 new. You can order these through Abebooks.com

Abebooks is the best source for this kind of thing. Any book can be found, if you have the patience, money, and time.
