Antique bobbin holder?

My mum has found this antique silk bobbin holder, it is wooden and shaped like a two sided pencil,could anybody tell me the name of it,and how it is used,possibly a website too please.

  1. Could be a lace making bobbin. Lots of them are wound with thread and moved over and under each other in a pattern to form the lace.

    used for tatting and lace making, you pass them over and under, forming a pattern in the lace, I've never understood a lace pattern! but my MIL took it up years ago, some of them have beads which are added by individuals to give a custom weight, that is comfortable for them to work with.
