  1. Your best source is a jeweler or a person that specializes in watch repair. They will tell you what it is made of, who made it, approximate value, and fix it if it needs it. Another source is an antique dealer but be careful some just want to take advantage not be fair. Go to the local library to find collectible books with watches in them or look it up online at the makers website. If they do not have one type in the makers name and dig. Its hard but worth it. Try to findout the story behind the watch and take a picture of it so you can pass on the information to future generations. I hope this helps and that you keep this unique part of your history but if you have to sell it having the picture and the story will allow you to keep a piece of it forever.

  2. Try the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
