Antiques Question?

I have an old wooden sign from Libby's Foods that I found covered in dust in the basement when we bought our house. How can I find out if it is authentic, or when it was made, etc. I looked up the company and saw that it was founded in the late 1860's, but I could not find anything for signs or anything like that online anywhere!!!! Help me solve the mystery!

  1. Libbys as in the people that make canned veggies and fruit?you'll need to get it appraised by an antiquity dealer or wait for antiques road show to come through. You could always contact the company directly, maybe someone there could help you.

  2. I'd love to see a pic, I might be able to tell. Off the top of my head, I'd say most likely it could be antique. Repros are often plastic these days. And actually, I've never seen a Libby's repro before.

Could it possibly be the side of a crate? Libbys does fruits and veggies and to me, it sounds like it could be from a crate. Most ad signs would have been metal.
