Question:

Antiques on Ebay?

I have alot of antiques (jars, plates, vases, etc.). If I sell them cheap ($20-$50) on eBay, will I still make a profit if I use a professional shipping company (like fedex or ups)?

Is there any demand for antiques or would it be a waste of time (and some money) to try to sell them on eBay?

  1. try an antique store=P. they sell stuff thats worth alot and sometimes its worth waaaaaaaaaaay more than what its value really is.my aunt bought a set of plates for 50 dollars and she auctioned it off for 1500 dollars and it was sold

  2. umm i dont know

  3. call a dealer or get a pricing book  to find  out what your stuff is worth.

  4. ebays a good place to sell.

  5. waste of time

  6. You can use eBay but first research the piece and take it to an antique specialist to find its worth and if it is worth selling on eBay.

  7. i DONT kNoW YoU HAvE To ChEck tHe vALuE Of tHe aNiTqUeS

  8. antiques are definitley a hot  thing to buy on ebay but you would want to check to see how much their actually worth. also unless your a company whos sells alot of stuff frequently fedex and ups will just be more expensive than sending regular mail

  9. Look on ebay for items that are similar to what you have and see if they are selling and for how much. Then, you can decide. I'd also try taking them to a local antiques dealer and seeing how much they'd give you for them. Good luck.

  10. Try selling things on http://www.silkfair.com.  No risk to you to open an account, free store setup, and list unlimited items for free, and only 3% final sales fee.  I sell thing on silkfair, and saw some sellers selling antiques there as well.  Make sure you take great quality pictures.  A picture is worth a thousand words.

  11. from my experience you do better selling them at garage sale or at auction house, but these days it is hard to find an auction house that doesn't gouge people for 30%.... you might want to try craigslist.com first but make sure to post pics cuz most peops on ther (like me) are lazy and only look at picture ads.. too much pain blabbing back and forth only to finally go see and its junk... btw, great thing is raigslist is 100% free... not as big of market, but noone taking your $$ like ebay and post office... ebay is also full of liars and crooks along with decent people too but you have no way of knowing if buyer will claim its broken upon arrival just to get partial refund... if you use ebay, go with usps cuz they cheapest unless you already have a business account somewhere else & always insure items, and always use delivery confirmation... as far as profit on ebay, well figure that between ebay and paypal (which you have to use if you want any chance of sale) you will lose 15-25% of the sale price... then you have to pay the shipping too... hope that helps - ohh, 7 i forgot to mention my personal experience with an antique on ebay... it did do well for me as a small antique wrench i had in garage sale for $3 for 2 days nobody would buy, but i later sold it on ebay for $25... after fees and shipping it was about $15 profit but better that the $3 noone would pay before.. still i believe that is one unique situation
