Question:

Antivirus 2009: How to remove?

A software "Antivirus 2009" has been installed on our PC unintentionally. My cousin says it's because of a popup on a certain site.

How do I get rid of it? I also suspect that it brings along some threats. I'm satisfied with my AVG Free. I want to get rid of AV2009 because it keeps prompting to register it and keeps saying that you have to buy the license to keep you protected. It really doesn't do anything but annoy you saying that it detected threats (and lists them down).

Also, only after this software was installed, sometimes the PC says that a virus is trying to attack and it should be restarted. I suspect that this is because of this software.

How do I get rid of it?

  1. Download and Scanner you Computer Used SUPERAntiSpyware scans your computer for known Spyware, Adware, Malware, Trojans, Dialers, Worms, KeyLoggers, HiJackers and many other types of threats, and allows you to remove or quarantine them. It offers daily (manual) definition updates, as well as home page hijack protection and customizable scan options. Furthermore, the program includes a Repair feature that allows you to restore various settings which are often changed by malware programs, but usually not corrected by simply removing the parasite. The free version lacks real-time blocking and protection as well as several other advanced options. Download here

  2. Antivirus 2009 is an unwanted program, from the authors of Antivirus 2008 . These applications have resembling interface and "features". After stealth installation, Antivirus 2009 will show tonns of fake spyware\adware detection messages and offers to remove reported threats (after you purchase commercial version). But in real Antivirus 2009 is not a spyware cleaner, it's just an imitation of spyware remover. Antivirus 2009 can also slow your computer and cause system errors and crashes. Remove Antivirus 2009 using manual removal instructions (for advanced users) or removal tool.
