Antivirus 2009 pop ups, how do you stop them?

Please respond ONLY IF YOU HAVE PERSONALLY fixed this issue. DO NOT list another worthless program unless you know for a fact it works, I've already used:

adaware

rogueremover

malwarebytes

Ccleaner

They are worthless. I've spent hours looking through my registry and am about to just format to save time.

I have a previous post here, which unfortunately did not solve the problem:

  1. I did not clean my computer with this personally, but i gave this answer to another person and it got rid of it for them. I copied and pasted it exactly!

Automated Removal Instructions for the Vundo or Virtumonde infection using VundoFix:

    2. Save these instructions in word or notepad to the desktop where they can be easily found.

    9. When the computer has shutdown, turn your computer back on.

The WinFixer and Vundo infection should now be removed from your computer.

If you are still having a problem then please perform the following steps:

Note: This step should only be used if the instructions in the previous steps did not remove the infection:

  4. I'll ask you one more time!!!! DO YOU HAVE YOUR FIREWALL ON???

The same god d**n thing happened to me! I turned my firewall on and its gone right now. At least try turning the firewall on by going to control panel>security!!!

Edit: Try downloading POPUP Blocker from Cnet.com

That's my last solution. It happened to me just yesterday, it kept popping up but that's because I didn't have my firewall on.

People also tried going to their system restores, setting their system restore to an early date when they didn't have the virus and the computer came back to normal. I don't know if that works but its worth a try. Before you do that, just make sure to save your important files.

Also, I notice everytime that f*cking popup pops up, I run malwarebytes and the results always turn out to be two or three trojans.

  5. MANY THANKS TO SOCCER DAVE!!!

I've had an absolute nightmare with this virus: but soccer dave's instructions seems to have cracked it!

I thought I had tried everything, but obviously not! Cheers again, simple and effective.

Shame your an arsenal fan though: Come on the potters!!!

  6. Download and scan with the the following free software in order one by one, delete what ever they find should leave your PC free of infections:

    SuperAntispyware: http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

    SmitfraudFix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.e...

    Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi...

Once you have removed the infections keep Avast and download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)

  7. Automated Removal Instructions for Antivirus 2009 using Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware:

    1. Print out these instructions as we will need to close every window that is open later in the fix.

    2. Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, or MBAM, from the following location and save it to your desktop:

    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Download Link

    3. Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer, including this one.

    4. Double-click on the icon on your desktop named Download_mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer.

    5. When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click on the Finish button.

    6. MBAM will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program as shown below.

    7. On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for Antivirus 2009 related files.

    8. MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware. This process can take quite a while, so we suggest you go and do something else and periodically check on the status of the scan. When MBAM is scanning it will look like the image below.

    9. When the scan is finished a message box saying the scan has finished will come up.

    10. You should click on the OK button to close the message box and continue with the Antivirus2009 removal process.

    11. You will now be back at the main Scanner screen. At this point you should click on the Show Results button.

    12. A screen displaying all the malware that the program found will be shown. You should now click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine.

    12. When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and display it in Notepad. Review the log as desired, and then close the Notepad window.

    13. You can now exit the MBAM program.

Your computer should now be free of the Antivirus2009 program. If your current anti-virus solution let this infection through, you may want to consider purchasing the PRO version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to protect against these types of threats in the future.
