Question:

Antivirus XP 2008 HELPPP!?

So I recently got infected with the Antivirus XP 2008 program, and I've done a pretty good job at getting it off my computer. Like, the background no longer switches to the fake "warning" sign, the program doesn't automatically run when I log and all of the files that the program did install have been deleted and removed. Or at least I think.

My internet is still wacky, and I believe the Antivirus XP 2008 is still the cause... like when I do searches on search engines and click on the links, I get redirected to a completely different websites that's of no use. Both my internet explorer and firefox have been having problems going onto yahoo and hotmail too.

Can someone please help me out here!

  1. use manual removal instructions

  2. Download and scan with the the following free software in order one by one, delete what ever they find should leave your PC free of infections:

    Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    SuperAntispyware: http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

    SmitfraudFix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.e...

    Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Editi...

Once you have removed the infections keep Avast and download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)

  3. get webroot antispyware and antivirus update it and there you go it cost around £19-£25

Or you can download spyware doctor or avg for free

  4. i had antivirus xp 2009 and got rid of it. 2008 is a variant of that, so it should be similar.

basically you want to delete the bad files and registry entries in safe mode.

look for any file that has av2008, antivirus xp 2008. anything along those lines.

also do a search and delete in registry for these words. there are other entries you need to change. do a search in google for the particular ones.

and remove from control panel if still there.

run trojan remover from simplysup.com and spybot and also anti-virus software. also run hi-jack this for any bho's.
