AntivirusXP2008 disabled my task manager, how do i get it back?

ive already manually deleted some of the viruses programs but it still wont let me use my task manager. im guessing i should just buy an external hard drive and make a backup of my computer. it sucks having to reformat just because of a stupid virus

I'm not sure If you can get it back. What you could do is try an antivirus that scans and deletes viruses before you run any programs in windows (like Avast). This might fix your problem.
