Antoine Kombouare keen on retaining Mevlut Erdinc until arrival of new striker – Ligue 1 news
Paris Saint-Germain coach Antoine Kombouare is looking to keep Turkish striker Mevlut Erdinc until the arrival of a new striker at Parc des Princes.
After the former Sochaux-Montbeliard striker reached an agreement with Stade Rennais, a meeting was scheduled earlier this week between Rennes general manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pierre-c29989 Dreossi and the sporting director Leonardo to discuss the transfer fee for the 24-year-old.
With the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Lorient-c39153.
Stade Rennais were quick to act as they approached http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 national. With a reported agreement of an amount within the region of 8 million Euros, the departure of the Turkish striker is imminent.
However, former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valenciennes-FC-c40865 coach wants Erdinc to fulfil the role of a second striker at Parc des Princes until they find a suitable replacement.
In an interview to the local radio station RMC, the 47-year-old Frenchman was quoted saying, “"If he is fit, he is with us. Until proven otherwise, he is with us. That was the deal. There would be a departure for him given that we find a replacement for him. If there is no one, then he will remain.”
The French tactician also added that the Turkish national was interested in staying at the capital club but had to change his mind. Kombouare concluded by saying that Erdinc was a key player for him and it would be good if the management would reconsider the transfer of Erdinc to Route de Lorient.
With this declaration, it seems that the Kanak coach and the management are not of the same view in the case of Mevlut Erdinc. Nonetheless, the position of PSG is clear about the need of a new striker before the end of the transfer window on August 31, 2011.
The Brazilian sporting director, so far, has been unsuccessful in recruiting a new striker and will be hoping to find one before the closure of the transfer window.
