Antoine Kombouare looking to take tough measures after defeat at Marseille – Ligue 1 news
In Week 15 of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 Championelle Paris Saint-Germain suffered their second straight defeat in Ligue 1. After losing 1-0 at home to Nancy Lorraine in week 14, PSG suffered another defeat as they were conquered 3-0 by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127
at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday.
The overall performance of Les Parisiens was certainly a forgettable sight as the likes of Javier Pastore, Jeremy Menez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Blaise-Matuidi-c7681 failed to do anything about the Marseille onslaught. In the defence, Diego Lugano failed to impress and was at fault
for Marseille’s first goal in the ninth minute.
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Lugano were heavily criticised in the aftermath of a morale deafening defeat at the hands of their bitter rivals.
On Thursday, PSG will travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844 to face Red Bull Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena. The game is a must-win for PSG and a defeat could seriously jeopardise Les Parisiens’ chances of making it to the next round of matches in the UEFA Europa League.
Reports in French media suggest that Antoine Kombouare is now looking to drop a few players for the vital game against the Austrian giants. A point against Salzburg could also be enough to secure PSG a place in the round of 16.
The likes of Javier Pastore and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721 were substituted in the early stages of the second half during the defeat at Stade Velodrome and rumours suggest that the Kanak coach is once again looking to bang his fist on the table by not starting the likes
of Pastore, Menez and Lugano.
The coach is certainly not to be blamed for such act (if it does happen) after the trio’s exploits against Marseille.
This act would also prove that Antoine Kombouare is not willing to tolerate below-par performances and will make changes to the side wherever it is necessary. With his future under intense scrutiny, Antoine Kombouare is desperate to get PSG back to winning
ways in a bid to buy himself some extra time.
The recent performances against Nancy and Olympique de Marseille have certainly posed a lot of questions on PSG’s claims of becoming the Ligue 1 champions this season and Kombouare’s calculated risk by considering dropping a few first-team players might
be a wake-up call for everyone in the dressing room.
