Anton Andersson and Josefin Eriksen pocket swimming titles: Swedish Junior SC Swimming Championships
Anton Andersson and Josefin Eriksen proved their mettle by pocketing gold medals of Men’s 100m Individual Medley (IM) and Women’s 100m backstroke respectively at the 2012 Swedish Junior Short Course (SC) Swimming Championships in Valby, Sweden on Sunday,
January 29.
The session concluded after the playoffs of 100m IM, 100m backstroke and 200m breaststroke in Men and Women’s category.
The opening event of the session was Men’s 100m IM, where Andersson went full throttle and occupied crown of the event by posting a time of 55.83 seconds.
He was followed by Axel Pettersson, who remained 0.36 seconds slower than the gold medallist and claimed silver medal of the event with a timing of 56.19 seconds. The third spot of the race was secured by Stefan Stojmenovic, who stayed just two strokes behind
Pettersson and settled on the podium for bronze medal by submitting an effort of 56.63 seconds.
In the meantime, the spectators witnessed ruthless efforts of Josefin Eriksen in the Women’s 100m backstroke. Eriksen showed no mercy to her opponents and clinched the title of race by ending his swim in a time of 1 minute and 01.50 seconds.
She was trailed by Ida Lindborg, who stayed 0.66 seconds behind the champion and completed her race with a second fastest effort of 1 minute and 02.16 seconds. The third position was occupied by Linnea Olsson, who was just a touch away from her former finisher.
Olsson remained 0.12 seconds behind the second position holder and reached the finishing end for third position by reporting a time of 1 minute and 02.38 seconds.
After a while, Louise Hansson captured gold medal of the Women’s 100m IM event. She demonstrated her laudable efforts in the four-lap discipline and ensured her victory by submitting a time of 1 minute and 01.70 seconds.
With her irresistible efforts, she remained 0.37 seconds ahead of Nadja Salomonsson, who followed her on the victory stand for silver medal by clocking a time of 1 minute and 02.08 seconds. Vilma Ekstrom was the third best finisher of the event, as she secured
bronze medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 03.50 seconds.
Subsequently, Erik Persson dominated the Men’s 200m breaststroke swim. He hit the finishing end with a wonderful time of 2 minutes and 13.49 seconds.
His effort was traced by Petros Katsampanis, who was just one and a half stroke behind him and concluded his race in a time of 2 minutes and 13.97 seconds. Robert Palosaari seized third position of the event as he ended his swim with an effort of 2 minutes
and 15.10 seconds.
The session ended after the remarkable swims of all participants while winners raked their awards at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship.
