Anton Chigurh to be successful in Comlongon Castle Handicap at Carlisle
In-form 3-year-old, Anton Chigurh, looked badly in need of a 1-mile trip, when finishing second just by half a length over seven furlongs at Ayr last time.
Tom Dascombe’s trainee has finally got a race of his choice. He is all set to unleash his talent in the Comlongon Castle Handicap, which will be run over Carlisle’s seven furlongs and 200 yards on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Anton Chigurh made three unlucky rides before getting off the mark at Doncaster in July. In the Danwood Handicap, the dashing colt did not face any trouble whatsoever in clinching the first rank.
Owned by Panarea Racing, the son of Oasis Dream did not rest on his laurels, and demonstrated an excellent show at Southwell. The 32Red.com Handicap saw him losing to Only Ten Per Cent only by half a length.
Another narrow defeat came to his credit at Ayr last time. In the Live In-Play Betting At BetVictor.com Handicap at the end of July, the colt ran wonderfully in the hands of Richard Kingscote. But he never quite reached the winner.
After three forceful performances, Anton Chigurh is full of confidence, and should appreciate this step up in trip. He is due to face seven quick runners in the class 3 meeting, which will get underway at 16:30 GMT. The going is soft, and the event carries a handsome cash prize of £6,663.
Master Of Arts is also likely to get decent odds today. However, it is hard to trust him blindly because of an inconsistent track record. After staying out of action for more than five months, the 7-year-old returned to action at the end of last month.
The Mark Johnston-trained failed to live up to the expectations, and finished fourth in the City of Ripon Stakes (Handicap). It was his first appearance for the new yard.
Although Master Of Arts is still open to improvement, the punters should stick with Anton Chigurh, who is in very good shape at the moment. The Tom Dascombe-trained has plenty of things in favour, including the trip. We wish the best of luck to all the horses.
