Anton Haig returns to the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne after a two-year break

Anton Haig is performing after two years at the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne, planning to become the proud winner at the European Challenge Tour event.
The 26-year-old South African was on a two-year layoff from Europe and has now returned to golf with full enthusiasm.
“I’ve had a good break, but I’m back now and really raring to go. I feel great, and I’ve been working really hard on my game for the past three months,” Haig said.
He turned professional in 2003 and has won four professional events so far. Speaking about his plans, Haig said that he is looking to record another impressive win at the Golf Blue Green de Pléneuf Val André in Pléneuf, France.
Being an amateur, he won three amazing titles at the South African tournament of the 2001 Vodacom Champions, 2003 South African Amateur Championship and 2003 South African Boys Championship.
After turning professional, he recorded his first win at the Sunshine Tour staged, the Seekers Travel Pro-Am in 2005. He grabbed the victory in a playoff mode, defeating Nic Henning.
He continued his winning streak and played many tournaments after that. He finishes most of the events among the top 10 and finally won two professional titles in 2006.
It was MTC Namibia PGA Championship and Asian Tour staged Pulai Springs Malaysian Masters in 2006. He won both the titles by a one-stroke lead.
After 2006, he recorded another win at the Johnnie Walker Classic, a co-sanctioned event of Asian Tour and European Tour in 2007. He successfully defeated South African Richard Sterne and English Oliver Wilson in a playoff mode.
“I want to get the feeling back of really enjoying being out on a golf course again, rather than grinding it out and losing my cool, which was happening too often. When I won on the Asian Tour in 2006 and The European Tour in 2007, I probably enjoyed myself
a bit too much,” he said.
Haig is currently performing in France. He scored a 1-under 69 in the first round, by making four amazing birdies, one bogey and a devastating double-bogey.
Then he started the second round with a birdie, shooting another double-bogey on the 2nd and scored three consecutive under pars on the 4th, 5th and 6th hole. He carded two bogeys and added 35 on the front nine
holes.
