Antonino Gadi and Kevin Alfred enter into semifinal of 2011 MVP Sports Foundation – Bingo Bonanza
Philippines’ Antonino Gadi and Kevin Alfred Dalisay qualified for the Men’s Singles semi-finals of the 2011 MVP Sports Foundation – Bingo Bonanza, at Bacolod, Philippines, on Friday, June 3.
Antonino, who is the top seed in the Men’s Singles category, tamed Andrei Babad in straight games, whereas Kevin crushed Lloyd Escoses in a similar way.
In the quarter-final battle, Antonino kept a firm grip over the rallies of the match against Babad. The top seed showed his class by playing an aggressive game and built pressure on his opponent, who seemed completely out of sorts against the top seed. Antonino
won the opening game in a stunning fashion with a dominating margin of 21-6.
The second game was a close battle between the two shuttlers in the opening half of the set. However, Antonino started to control the rallies by keeping the pace of his strokes high. The top seed emerged the winner in the end of the second set by a convincing
margin of 21-13. The court time of the match was 30 minutes with a 21-6 and 21-13 score.
In another quarter-final match of Men’s Singles, Kevin played a terrific game in the first set. He was playing with precision and his finishing strokes were remarkable. Escoses found himself helpless against the perfect play of his opponent. Kevin finished
up the first game with a terrific margin of 21-8.
Escoses put up a good show of quality badminton in the second game, where he demonstrated superb smashes on the sidelines of the court. However, Kevin lifted his game by keeping the shuttle c**k low from the net.
He started to play aggressive game in the second part of the set and remained successful in winning it by a difference of 21-15. The court time of the quarter-final match was 35 minutes with a 21-8 and 21-15 score on the board.
In the Men’s Singles semi-final fight, the top seed, Antonino will take on Peter Gabriel Magnaye, whereas, Kevin will fight against Paul Jeffersen Vivas in the top four.
