Philippines’ top seed, Antonino Gadi has proved his supremacy as he has reserved his place in the Men’s Singles final after thrashing Peter Gabriel Magnaye in the semi-final of the 2011 MVP Sports Foundation Bingo Bonanza, at Davao City, Philippines, today
on August 2.
The top seeded Gadi sailed easily in this third leg of the national circuit as he is yet to lose even a single set in all of his matches. In the semi-final of the event, he continued his two-set finishing against Peter Gabriel, who was the fourth seed of
the event. Gadi got rid of his opponent in straight games by consuming just 30 minutes in the match.
In the first game of the match, both players played to their maximum abilities and the game progressed tightly. This was one of the best matches of the day which entertained the local crowd because of the top quality game displayed by both shuttlers. Until
the interval, the top seed was just one-point ahead of Peter Gabriel at 11-10.
After the break, Peter Gabriel played positive badminton and leveled the score by reaching 15-15. However, the in this concluding phase of the semi-final contest, the top seed played some tricky strokes with great touches of perfection and won the first
set with a slight margin of 21-19, in 19 minutes.
The second set of the match was completely dominated by Gadi, who spared no chance for his opponent to settle in. Right from the start, the top seed occupied the driving seat by playing to his maximum speed. At the one-minute interval, Gadi was leading with
a comfortable margin of 11-4.
After the break, Gadi continued his roller coaster run in the second part of the game. He was facing no considerable resistance from Peter Gabriel in this set of the semi-final battle. Gadi finished off the second set quite easily with the stunning score
of 21-7, in just 11 minutes. This 30-minute semi-final match ended up with the score of 21-19 and 21-7.
