Philippine’s Antonino Gadi will face Carlos Antonie Cayanan in the Men’s Singles third round clash, as both shuttlers have won their second-round matches in the 2011 Goal Pilipinas - Bingo Bonanza, held in Philippines, on Wednesday, June 1.
Gadi, who is the top seed in the event, defeated Jc Clarito in a two-game match, whereas, Cayanan proved his worth against a spirited Edson Malaki in straight-sets. Both the winners will meet in the third round tomorrow.
In the first-set, Gadi opened the game in confident fashion and took a good lead within no time. He was playing an aggressive game by employing attacking clears and cross court smashes. He spared no opportunity for Clarito to catch up his speed and won the
opening set in just 15 minutes by a satisfactory margin of 21-15.
In the second game, the top seed put up a fascinating show by playing superb badminton in the whole set. He made his opponent struggle in picking up the bird from all areas of the court. Gadi finished up the match by winning the second set in only 10 minutes
by a commanding margin of 21-8. The 25-minute match finished with a 21-15 and 21-8 score on the board.
In the other encounter, Cayanan proved his skills by beating Malaki with considerable ease. In the first game, Cayanan’s execution of powerful smashes and strong pushes was remarkable. He built pressure on his opponent right from the start of the match and
maintained it throughout the entire set to win it with a huge margin of 21-9, in just 12 minutes.
In the second-set, Malaki portrayed a better game in the start by playing aggressively. However, Cayanan managed to level the score in the first-half of the game. He dominated the game in the later part of the set without facing any strong resistance from
his challenger and ended up the game with a score of 21-15, in 15 minutes. The 28-minute contest concluded with a margin of 21-9 and 21-15.
