Antonio Asistio overcomes Jay Bayron's lead from R1 of ICTSI Canlubang Golf Invitational
After Jay Bayron led the first round of the ICTSI Canlubang Golf Invitational with a 68, Laguna placed Antonio Asistio to move ahead Bayron with 2 shots in R2.
According to the leader-board statistics, the second round of the tournament ended with Asistio leading the competition with a 4 under 68. With Bayron aiming to overcome the 2 shot deficit, the event entered it last round at the
GC.
The Invitational details tell that Asistio's best nine had been the front nine where the golfer managed to grab 4 birdies. The birdies were carded through 6 feet which at the end displayed a 32 and 36 round result. The golfer managed
to collect a total of 138 after playing a total of 36 holes.
As far as Bayron is concerned, after leading the previous round with a 68, the golfer faltered to a poor even 72 that pulled him down the competitive standings. The thing about golf is that one needs to be on his toes through every
round and Bayron failed to realize that.
The second place thus presented by Bayron had a 140 that was higher than his competitor Marvin Dumandan. The contender shot a 70 in the second round of the event with a 141 that also held one eagle as well.
Asistio believes in playing a game of enjoyment but said that this time he is standing at the top of the leader-board which means that he needs to do much more than just having fun at the golf course.
The second round leader also said that he had been hitting rather accurate shots all due to the help of Carito Villaroman. He said that Villaroman has aided him magnificently in fixing up his drives and swings. Asistio praised
Villaroman greatly and said that Joel Altea III of the ICTSI golf team had also helped Asistio in fixing up his drives.
“I was told to make my swings a bit more wide, this has helped me a lot,” said Asistio.
Asistio said that the changed approach made him hit more irons and he was able to accurately achieve his wedged shots. The new approach has also saved him more time from his ball and has been able to keep his follow through squat.
The fairways played by the golfers at the ICTSI Canlubang Golf Invitational had mocked them throughout the play. A golf course where many golfers had faltered to display satisfactory scores, Asistio played a highly steady game
at the back nine but could have achieved a three-stroke lead in R2 had he not achieved the 18th hole bogey.
