The Rossoneri striker is rumoured to be considering a move to the Samp, following AC Milan’s decision to sell Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302 has once again been rumoured to be looking for a move away from AC Milan, with some reports suggesting that the striker is considering a trip back to Sampdoria.
The Rossoneri lost many of their veterans following the end of the 2011-12 campaign, and the situation has become from bad to demoralising with the exit of two of their brightest stars http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029 in a big money move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Cassano was visibly distressed at the idea of departure of the Diavolo duo to the French outfit back in June, and expressed his doubts at wanting to stay at the Milan outfit for long.
The Rossoneri striker was of the view that the departure of the Brazilian defender will leave the Italian giants struggling for a UEFA Champions League position in the league.
During Italy’s Euro 2012 training camp, the Azzurri attacker had stated:
“It will be hard to give Thiago Silva away, very hard. The club need to be clear about the plans for next season. He is 50 per cent of our team and without him we would only be able to fight for Champions League qualification. Will I stay? I don’t know.
I have an idea which I will keep to myself.”
The idea was widely interpreted to be a return to his former outfit Sampdoria, where that striker remains a popular figure with the fans.
However, Cassano has his issues with the Marassi authorities, and his breakdown in relationship with President Riccardo Garrone has formerly made headlines, and is considered to be the main reason behind his departure from the club.
The two men have seemingly made peace with each other ever since, but the Samp patron in a past statement rubbished the idea of the striker’s return to his club.
While the statement was enough to kill the rumours at the time, it was certainly not enough to stop it from resurfacing just a month later.
