The Bianconeri manager believes that their victory in the race for Serie A title would be akin to Hellas Verona's phenomenal victory in 1985.
Antonio Conte believes that they will have made history in Serie A, if they manage to capture the Scudetto at the end of the season. The Bianconeri chief stated that their league triumph will be comparable to that of the outmoded Hellas Verona, that beat
all odds to take the league title 27 years ago.
Juventus are currently placed three points ahead of AC Milan in the run for the league glory, with just three matches left to be played in Serie A. With his team on the verge of a historic victory, the coach has expressed his feelings about the enormity
of the success in the league.
The Bianconeri chief insisted that it is important not to count their eggs before they are hatched, and insisted that the players have given them an incredible opportunity to write a memorable history, not just for the club but Serie A.
The Old Lady manager went on to state that capturing the Scudetto in such adverse circumstances was an immense challenge for Juventus, and insisted that a successful run will place the team among the ranks of the great Hellas Verona.
While taking to the press, the 42-year-old said:
"Look, we are thinking in the present, their help has given us the opportunity to do something incredible this year, something that was unthinkable earlier this season. And if we win, I think this is comparable to the league championship of Hellas Verona,
lest we forget where we have come from. So we are thinking about this, let’s concentrate on doing something extraordinary in the league.”
Conte went on to state that their position in the league is due to the tremendous hard work put in by the players, and insisted that the team will look to continue their stunning performances until the end of the season.
"We are building on what we’ve already built that is important, but let’s not lose sight of the goal, because it has not yet been achieved." He added.
Juventus will face Lecce in their next Serie A fixture, and a victory coupled with AC Milan’s defeat to Atalanta will wrap up the trophy for the Old Lady.
