The former head coach of Bari has gone on to comment on their victory over Cagliari and reflected on the match and how injuries provided a slight hiccup in selection.
Before the match had gone underway, Conte had reiterated the fact that the Turin giants are well equipped to fight on all fronts. He was talking about their pursuits and plans for this year. He was talking up the chances of the club following their placement
in the knockout rounds of the Champions League, following their performances without their head coach, and not even qualifying but topping their group while doing it.
While commenting on the Cup tie against Cagliari and their subsequent victory in the match, Conte was overwhelmed at being back in the dugout, and leading his troops from the front. What made this even more special was the fact that this was the first match
after his ban that the former AC Siena head coach was in the dugout of the Turin giants at home.
It was certainly an emotional moment for the coach when they secured victory in front of their home fans and the former Bari head coach remarked that he wanted to join in with the celebrations. Furthermore, he remarked that this was one of the things that
he missed during his ban.
Despite their victory in the Coppa Italia tie, which has seen them qualify for the quarter finals of the tournament, the Coach stated that Cagliari played good football and made it tough for them, he also reflected on their tie in the next round and remarked:
“I am certainly moved, as it is always very pleasing to have this show of affection from our fans.  Of course we wanted to get a victory, as we want to be competitive in every tournament. There were many lads who hadn’t played as much this season, but they
had the chance to shine. Cagliari were organised and now we wait for the Quarter-Finals, where our opponents will presumably be Milan.”
The head coach of the Turin giants will now be looking to steer his concentration in the direction of their next Serie A match.
