The Old Lady boss admits that the Turin giants squandered a great opportunity in Scudetto pursuit; defends Gianluigi Buffon after the howler against Lecce
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833’s late howler gifted Lecce an equaliser at Juventus Stadium on Wednesday, May 2nd. The Turin giants now remain only one-point ahead of AC Milan in the points table with only two games remaining in the
campaign.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Marchisio-c9312 gave Juve an early lead in the 8th minute, but it was cancelled out by Andrea Bertolacci’s late equaliser.
Antonio Conte is ruing the dropped points, but believes that it will help his team in their growth. The tactician believes that his team will have to give their 100 percent in their final two games of the season; otherwise their
rivals will win the league.
While talking to the reporters, Conte remarked:
“It was a chaotic draw, but it’s not the first time this has happened. Today it was our turn to concede a strange goal. It is another reason we need to grow, but obviously there are regrets, as we could’ve put a real marker on
the Scudetto. If in the last two games we do well, then we will win the title, otherwise the other team will be better. We wasted a bonus and now are forced to win the next two matches.”
The former Siena boss also defended Buffon for his error, and believes that these types of errors do happen in the game, and everyone should move on with it. He believes that the legendary shot-stopper has rescued the team on numerous
occasions in the past, and these little things should not be treated severely.
“Buffon had an accident, as can happen when strikers miss goals. He is strong and experienced enough to react positively, seeing as so many times this season he has been decisive for us.”
On the other hand, Juve’s closest rivals, AC Milan, won their respective round 36 game after a convincing 2-0 win over Atalanta.
Conte’s men will travel to Cagliari for their next game on Sunday, May 6th.
Their last game will be at home against Atalanta.
