After rejection of the plea bargain by FIGC presented by the lawyers of the Juventus coach, Conte’s lawyers are preparing for a full trial to plead their innocence.
The head coach at Juventus has been charged with allegations that he failed to notify the Italian footballing authorities about match fixing. In effect they have stated that Conte had prior knowledge of the incidents and failure to notify fraud is also deemed
a crime.
The allegations that Conte has been subjected to are not to do with his time at Juventus, they are to do with his last few matches in the Serie B as the head coach of AC Siena. There has not been any tangible proof of the allegations of the results of Siena
against Novara and Albinoleffe.
The allegations that surfaced have come about by the testimony http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Filippo-Carobbio-c13775; a player who has already been sentenced to a punishment following his involvement in the match fixing saga.
Carobbio’s statement mentioned that the head coach, Antonio Conte, had informed the team that the results against the teams were already decided. This was in stark contrast to the testimony to all the remaining players in the team back then. All 23 of the
remaining players present at that team meeting went on to state that the manager had never stated that.
Antonio De Rensis, the lawyer of the former Siena manager, remarked that judgement in light of the lack of evidence was shocking and went on to state that the testimony of the cases need to be looked at with more detail.
He went on to state that Carobbio has changed his statement from one time to the other and remarked;
“I am not here to tell you Carobbio is not credible. I am here to tell you Carobbio is not the only credible one. When we are faced with an accusation and no other evidence aside from that, we have to look at the testimony very carefully.”
When quizzed about the intent behind the allegations, Antonio Conte had gone on to state that his name was dragged in as Conte’s and Carobbio’s wives had an altercation during the season at Siena.
