The tactician ignored the media in a protest against the ban he received; the ban was levied onto him by the match official following Conte’s antics against Bologna.
The former Lecce player felt hard done by the referee’s decision to ban him from the touchline in the week 27 clash of the Serie A.
Conte had to contend with watching the match in the stands against Genoa. As a protest, he boycotted his usual conference to the media.
Juve assistant manager, Angelo Alessio, deputised for the Italian in the press conference, and shared his thoughts on the matter remarking:
“Antonio always behaved correctly with referees and assistants, so the dismissal was unjust.”
The assistant explained that he was there and knew how things had unfolded, and in light of the situation, the punishment was excessive. He continued by stating:
“We were there and we know how things went. He’s very upset at this one-match ban and I hope in future a similar situation does not happen again.
Despite the absence of the head-coach on the sidelines, the assistant coach stated that Juventus will go into the match with the same hunger and commitment. He mentioned that Conte had worked hard to build
the morale that is being exhibited within the Old Lady ranks, and it will not fizzle out in his absence.
Commented on the situation, he remarked:
“We will face Genoa the same way we did the other teams, with that determination and hunger to get a result. This side has a team spirit constructed through eight months of work and tomorrow we’ll be even
angrier about this situation, so will double our efforts.”
Juventus have been going through a rough patch of late, only managing to win once in their last five matches. Along with Conte’s absence, the Bianconeri have had to contend with injuries to their first-choice
defenders, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giorgio-Chiellini-c14963 out of contention with muscle strains.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-Bonucci-c22064 is suspended for the match against Genoa, and Conte will be forced to field a make shift back-four for the match.
The match will be played at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on Sunday, 11th March.
