The former Juventus midfielder went on to state that it is a pity that his hard earned respect and reputation has been dragged through the mud with no evidence.
The former AC Siena head coach was given the verdict of being suspended from the game of football for a period of 10 months, which would see the tactician miss the upcoming season. The fact that he came on the back of a hard earned victory of the Scudetto
makes the verdict that much difficult to take and the former Juventus player states that he is not able to command the same amount of respect from the dressing room that he was able to do before.
He remarked that it was extremely humiliating to be charged with such an allegation and mentioned that everyone he has worked with knows how hard he plays and his aim is to go for the win. He further went on to state that the situation that he was embroiled
in was really important and the realisation needs to go through everyone regarding the situation and he felt that his situation was humiliating for him on a personal.
The former Siena boss went on to comment that he does not command the same respect and cannot exude the same confidence through to his players because of the situation he finds himself in. He further went on to state:
“Now I’m afraid to argue with one of my own players. If I send one of my players into the stands then this type of thing can happen.”
He gave a scathing remark on Filippo Carobbio’s character and stated that it was absurd to take his testimony into account, given his character. He further said:
“They believe the word of someone who has been selling games for three and a half years, someone who sold his family.”
Underlining the importance of the issue, he mentioned that everyone needs to take due notice of the situation and said that it could happen to anyone, and mentioned:
“Today it has happened to me, tomorrow it could happen to one of my colleagues or a player. People need to open their eyes and not put their heads in the sand.”
Juventus start the defence of their titles on Saturday, 25th August.
