The head coach of Juventus FC has gone on to comment on the performances of his team along with what he missed the most during his ban from the field of play.
Antonio Conte was banned from undergoing his on the field coaching role, as well as banned from holding team talks during half time. For a manager, who enjoys having a hands on experience with the teams he coaches, it can be a difficult predicament to be in. It has been a true strength of character for Antonio Conte, to maintain the hunger and drive he has had even though he was not able to fully incorporate the emotions that were on the field of play, during the match and after the match, as well.
Antonio Conte had been banned from the Lega matches for his alleged involvement in the Scommessopoli controversy. He was held up on the accusations that he withheld information from the sporting justice authorities even when he was in knowledge of matches being fixed during his time as the head coach AC Siena. In particular, the matches that Siena played against Novara and Albinoleffe, and even though one of those charges was dropped, he was still banned from football.
His initial ban was of ten months, but later on it was shortened to a time span of four months after Conte appealed against the decision; the former Bari head coach finally made an appearance in the Turin dugout in their match against Palermo on the 9th of December. Having experienced the highs of being victorious while on the field of play, the Turin boss remarked that this was the thing he missed the most, and commented:
“I have to add something, one thing that occurred to me that I have felt - the one thing that I missed most in the last four months has been the physical contact with the players at the end of the game. This is the one thing that I felt. The beautiful thing that I felt at the end of the game was the embrace with everyone, it is something essential. If there is something that I would not give up, it is this physical contact with my players.”
Conte will be looking to guide his team to the finals of the Champions League, after they qualified for the knockout round.
