The Juventus tactician feels that the timing of the tournament might have been better, as the team’s coaching staff is looking to improve the squad’s fitness levels.
The holding Scudetto Champions have strengthened their squad in order to compete at the highest level on all fronts. The former AC Siena head coach is of the opinion that the tournament comes at a bad time for his team. The tournament
is the Trofeo TIM and it is a unique tournament in which http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, AC Milan and Juventus compete.
The teams will be battling it out this evening in Bari at the Stadio San Nicola. The mini- tournament is a round robin contest, and the length of each match will be 45 minutes. Three points are given to the team that wins in the
45 minutes; two points allotted to the team which wins on penalties; and one point is given to the team which loses out on penalties.
Conte is not deluded into believing that the matches will be a run in the park. He pointed out that his team had only started their pre-season training recently.
“These are relatively tough tests, because we’ve only been in training for a few days.”
The former Robur head coach remarked that the mini tournament would give them an opportunity to assess their standing for the upcoming season and went on to state that the Bianconeri players are concentrating on different aspects
of the game. He went on to comment that the Turin outfit will be looking to do well in the tournament.
The former Bari manager was talking to Sky Sport Italia and remarked:
“It’s a good test to evaluate the progress of the group, but we are working on both tactical and athletic aspects at the moment. We are building something important, but in any case still want to do well in this shop window tournament.”
Juventus are lacking many of their star players who featured in the European Championships, and Conte stated:
“It is inevitable there will be squad rotation, as we have only 11-12 real first team players, while the rest of the group is made up of youngsters.”
Coach Conte will be looking to give his new signings a start in the tournament to see how they incorporate themselves into his style of play.
