Antonio Davis to face Jose Hernandez in Atlanta, Georgia – Boxing News
Georgia Boxing Championship (GBC) lightweight titleholder Antonio ‘T-Rex’ Davis will defend his title against Mexican Jose Hernandez in the main event tonight, March 2, of a boxing show being organised by Greg Barckhoff’s Sports Fan Properties with Shea
Bailey Promotions in Atlanta, GA.
Expressing excitement, Co-promoter Shea Bailey said, “We had an amazing 2011 and we’re looking to continue in our success with boxing promotions in Atlanta in 2012.” Antonio Davis is the local favourite for the fight whereas Jose Hernandez is a Mexican sensation.
Both the pugilists are the top of their careers, which makes this bout even more exciting.
Antonio Davis lost his last fight in September last year, after which he was challenged by numerous other fighters for his titles but he never accepted. However, this time Davis is finally on the mark and he wants to prove his mettle to the world. After
the brutal loss he suffered in September, many analysts are of the view that Davis has lost his venom, and especially against Hernandez, there are rare chances of Davis to win. Hernandez is an astounding fighter who has fought all most all top-notch fighters
of his division and has emerged successful. As of now, Hernandez is looking forward to make the most of this opportunity by defeating Davis to grab his GBC title.
On Hernandez’s fighting skills, Bailey remarked, “Although Hernandez is originally from Mexico, he’s lived in the Atlanta area for years now. He and Davis have been wanting to do battle for a while and the people of Atlanta have demanded it. We made the
fight happen, and now we’ll see who takes the GBC belt home on Friday night”.
Some other fights of the evening include Mexican Jesus Tavera taking on Dino Dumonjic of Atlanta GA, Tobias Rice vs. Djuan Hughley, George Hayes vs. Greg Faust, Terry Carter vs. Yuwshua Zadok, Tracey Johnson vs. Joe Mullins, D’Quan Morgan vs. Lekan Byfield
and Michael Whitaker vs. Victor Pacheco.
With all these bouts on the card, tonight’s show is expected to be a grand one that will give GA fans what they have been waiting for.
