The Zebrette striker insists that he has just one year left on his contract with Udinese, and may opt against an extension as his desire to play the game is diminishing.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Di-Natale-c6306 has admitted that he is getting too old for the game, and insists that he may retire from Udinese next year, regardless of his Euro campaign.
The Zebrette ace is included in Cesare Prandelli’s 32-man preliminary squad ahead of the Euro 2012, after a remarkable season with the Bianconeri.
Di Natale insisted that he has played a lot of matches with Udinese, and has achieved much for himself and his club during that time.
The Bianconeri striker insisted that winning the Italian Golden Boot, and leading his team to a UEFA Champions League qualification is a fairly satisfying experience. The veteran attacker pointed out that he has scored 80 goals in the last two years for
his team, which is not a bad achievement by any standards.
While talking to the press, the 34-year-old said:
“I’ve done a lot with Udinese by winning the Capocannoniere charts and getting into Europe. Scoring 80 goals in two years seems to be a good achievement.”
Di Natale won the Italian Golden Boot twice during his tenure with the Little Zebras, and has struck another 23 goals in the 36 league games for Udinese, this season.
The Zebrette forward insisted that it is important for a footballer to have desire in order to continue playing the game, and suggested that he is beginning to lose his appetite for football.
The Bianconeri aggressor insisted that he may consider retiring from the game, after his contract with Udinese expires next year. However, the veteran stated that his decision to part company with the game will have nothing to do with his performance in
the upcoming Euro 2012.
“There is a possibility that I may retire soon,” he added. “I have a year left with Udinese, but we’ll just see what happens. To play you have to have that desire, but the decision won’t be based on what happens at Euro 2012.”
The UEFA European Football Championship will begin on Friday, 8 June, 2012, and will be jointly hosted by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032.
