Francesco Guidolin, Udinese head coach, has faith in his team’s ability to overcome their recent slump, his faith reaffirmed after news of Di Natale’s return.
Udinese have had a decent season so far, but of late they have not been as prolific as they have been throughout the season.
They have only won two of their last five matches, which has hampered their aspirations of finishing third in the Serie A. They are not out of contention to finish third, but they have failed to record victories
in recent matches.
Their most recent loss came in week 27 of the Serie A, in which they lost 1-0 to relegation-destined Novara.
Guidolin’s men have been facing trouble in Europe as well, losing 2-0 to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League tie. During the press conference, the Italian reflected on their fortunes by stating:
“The first leg result favours our opponents, but we are ready to give all we’ve got to overturn the expectations. Tomorrow we’ll try with all the strength we have. We fought hard to earn our place in Europe
and we’d like to stay there.”
When briefed on the course of tactics to be taken when they welcome http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar to Stadio Friuli, he remained coy but mentioning that Di Natale might start against AZ. He further remarked:
“Yes, Di Natale will play. I am 99 per cent sure Dusan Basta won’t recover in time, so I am pessimistic over his inclusion.
Appreciating the support given to the Udine based club, Guidolin praised his fans and thanked them for sticking by the team and being understanding.
“The fans are important, but it is also up to the team to fire up the crowd. I have never appealed to the supporters for that kind of help, as we must earn and deserve their love.”
He hoped that the Friulani fans would show up in number to support their team in their time of need.  Udinese currently sit in the fifth position two points adrift of Lazio who are in the third position.
