Antonio Lascuna adds another 68 to his scorecard at the Iskandar Johor Open
Antonio Lascuna of Philippines added another 68 to his scorecard in round two of the Iskandar Johor Open, to remain in contention for the top spot in the season-ending event on the Asian Tour.
The tournament is being played at the prestigious Horizon Hills Golf and Country Club, which is known for its beautiful layout.
The Iskandar Johor Open is regarded as one of the region’s elite tournament, because of its ability to attract top-notch players each year.
This year too, the event has reeled in some prominent names, including the likes of the Thai legends, Thaworn Wiratchant and Thongchai Jaidee, inform Gaganjeet Bhullar of India and Ryder Cup hero Sergio Garcia.
Lascuna carded five birdies against a lone bogey on day one to mark a decent start to his campaign in Malaysia.
The Filipino then replicated his first round performance in the second round, by recording the same number of birdies and bogeys, for an eight-under par two-round score.
He was among the players who were not able to complete their second round on Friday, due to the unplayable weather conditions.
As a result, he had to return to the course, early in the Saturday morning, in order to complete his round. Right after he finished his 36 holes, the rainfall started, forcing the game to be suspended once again.
Prior to the suspension, he was sharing the second position on the leaderboard, and was trailing the clubhouse leader Daniel Chopra by two strokes.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he said that it became really tiring for him to play, because of too many suspended sessions in the first two rounds.
“My putting was good and my driving was smooth! The course is playing long for me because of the wet conditions. Yeah, the suspensions made it very tiring for us. I did a lot of stretching and eating. It is important to stretch because I have a sore back.
I need to keep it warm,” he said.
He added, “I’m happy with my scores. I holed a lot of birdies from 10 feet. I woke up at 3.30 in the morning! I had breakfast, more stretching and took the bus to the course”.
