Antonio Margarito not scared of Manny Pacquiao’s speed
Antonio Margarito does not think that speed will be an issue when he fights superstar Manny Pacquiao this weekend.
In a candid interview with Jose Camarillo, Margarito was willing to assess the fighter:”Manny throws punches from every angle, but Erik Morales beat him easily [in 2005] and speed did nothing [in that fight]. I do not believe that what he did to Miguel Cotto,
he can do to me. I'm going to throw punches and hit him everywhere, even on his arms."
Margarito will be meeting “Pacman” for the vacant WBC junior middleweight championship.
With a victory he will rewrite boxing’s history books.
Many favour Pacquiao’s speed and superior footwork in the bout, but Margarito feels he will be able to counter with his work rate and non-stop aggression.
"He [Pacquiao] has never beaten someone as good as me at the higher weights,” Margarito told notifight.com.  “I feel very powerful. I will knock him out in this fight. I've prepared very well against southpaws. I have fought with real super welterweights
and earned victories over them. What Pacquiao has is pure speed, but we have a good strategy."
Margarito’s comments come at the heels of other more controversial ones which had both camps just short of blows.  In a video on the popular boxing website FanHouse, Margarito and team appeared to make fun of Manny’s trainer Freddie Roach, and his ongoing
battle with Parkinson’s disease.
For his part Margarito insists comments were twisted and taken out of context.  Other parties involved, including trainer Robert Garcia and lightweight prospect Brandon Rios, have publicly apologized.
Garcia allegedly telephoned Roach personally to accept blame and offer his apologies.  Roach, considered by most the best boxing trainer on the planet, heartedly accepted the words and said they should focus on the upcoming fight.
