Antonio Margarito scheduled to face Abel Perry – Boxing News
Previously, Antonio Margarito’s news of fighting on May 26 was released, however his opponent was unknown. Earlier today, Abel Perry was announced as Antonio Margarito’s opponent for the 10 round junior middleweight bout for May 26 at the Casino Del Sol
in Tucson. The fight will be headlining Top Rank Live card. News of Antonio’s opponent came in through Sergio Diaz, manager for Antonio Margarito.
This will be Margarito’s first ever fight after his last year rematch against Miguel Cotto, which he lost. As of now, Margarito will be entering the ring with 38 wins, 8 losses and 27 knockouts in his portfolio. His rematch against Cotto was held at the
Madison Square Garden in New York City on December 3. Margarito lost the match in the tenth round after his corner advised the referee to call it off, even though Margarito wanted to continue.
On Margarito’s upcoming fight and the boxer’s preparations, Diaz iterated, “Francisco Cortes, along with strength and conditioning coach Raul Robles, are preparing Antonio for this one. Robert will be joining us in Tucson.”
Times are crucial for Margarito right now. From being among the top boxers, he has come down to the bottom. He won his first match with Cotto but the latter accused of Margarito using illegal substance under his hand wraps. At that point in time, Cotto’s
