The Azzurri played the Three Lions in a recent friendly in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016, and the game saw Cesare Prandelli field six debutants in his playing eleven to lose the match 2-1.
Nocerino was all praise for Italy's performance against England, and insisted that he is pleased at the way that his team moved the ball in the field of play, and the character they showed against the mighty opposition.
The Azzurri midfielder was of the view that his team lost their edge in the last minutes of the game, and insisted that it has a lot to do with the fact that they were lagging in their pre-season preparations as compared to their opposition.
While talking to the press, the 27-year-old said:
“I liked the way http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 played, as we moved the ball around well with character and created many chances. In the last 15 minutes we lost sharpness, probably because they are at a more advanced stage of pre-season preparations.”
Nocerino went on to express his praise for the youngsters that played alongside him in the friendly, and insisted that despite their inexperience, he saw a lot of strength and character in the debutants.
The AC Milan-man was adamant that the Azzurri not only have a great present, but a great future ahead of them.
The Rossoneri midfielder also stressed upon the need to give credit to youth academies for developing the next generation of Italian stars, and insisted that they have developed players that are not afraid to show what they are capable of.
“I saw many strong young players and I’m very happy. We have a great future ahead of us, but also a great present. There are players who are not afraid and play the ball. The youth academies should be given credit for helping to develop these lads.”
