Antonio Tarver reckons he can beat Wladimir Klitschko with his speed and skills – Boxing news
The One Hit Wonder, Antonio Tarver, reckons he has the skills and speed to outclass the WBA, IBF, IBO, WBO and Ring Magazine’s heavyweight champion of the world Wladimir Klitschko in the ring.
The 42-year-old American pugilist, Tarver, who recently outpointed the former International Boxing Organisation’s cruiserweight champion Daniel ‘Danny’ Green in the 9th round by a technical knockout decision, was asked what he thinks about taking
on Dr. Steelhammer, Wladimir Klitschko.
Tarver replied by saying he believes he can beat the 6 ft 6” Ukrainian giant, Wladimir, as he thinks he has the speed along with the skills.
Wladimir recently secured a unanimous points’ victory over the Hayemaker, David Haye, in a unification bout for the heavyweight titles on July 2, 2011 at the Hamburg’s Football Stadium in Germany and Tarver watched the bout.
Tarver commented on the fight and stated Haye was not able to do a lot of things on the fight night but on the same note he claimed had he been in Haye’s position he would have done them.
Though Tarver admitted Wladimir is a hard hitter, he said he cannot hit a thing which he cannot see.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “When I looked at that David Haye fight I can picture myself in there really doing the things that David Haye wasn’t able to do for whatever reason. I know Klitschko is a big strong fighter, I know he’s a big puncher,
but you can’t hit what you can’t see, and I feel like my speed, my boxing ability, my ways to get inside. I won’t give him the arm reach to do anything.”
Wladimir called Tarver before taking on Haye but for some reason the fight could not happen. However, Tarver has remarked if Wladimir really wants to take him on he is ready but he will have to talk to his manager as well.
Tarver remarked, “If it’s something he wants to do then it’s something I’ll be inclined to do, but I got to get with my manager.”
