punches hard will beat him. Do you think he will last more than 1 year as champ despite his lack of defensive skills? I know he hits like a hammer, ask Cotto.

I agree and disagree.  Margarito has so far shown plenty enough durability to overcome his defensive weakness.  It's not the powerhitter that's going to beat him, it's the slick boxer that will hit him easily and likewise make his shots miss.  Someone like, Paul Williams, who is the lineal champion.

I agree with elmer, he will get beat by a really good boxer. Margaritos defense is his offense. If he cranks up his defence, his offense will suffer and his punch output will diminish. Paul williams almost outlanded him 2 to 1 in their first fight. Even when margarito did crank it up, he was still missing shots like crazy because williams was bobbing and weaving and returning fire, giving him a taste of his own medicine. by the end, margarito was gassed and williams went right back to work. Depending on how he does against judah, i'd say clottey will beat him too, ill get back to you on that one.

He defiantly needs to work on his defense. he has power and great stamina but that will not always give him the victory as seen vs Paul Williams. margarito is not a boxer he is a fighter. Cotto is a boxer with bad defense. if margarito faced a well rounded boxer with good defense he will not win. take calderon a great boxer but lacks power, he beats you with points. Though marigarito won, on the score card it would not have been a blow out. So both fighters must learn defense in order to be great. this in no way is meant to take any credit away from margarito just stating facts
