Ants are covering my cucumber plants. They seem to be affecting the blossoms now. Any ideas if they hurt them?

There are millions of them covering my vines from bottom to top. I can't even stick my hand in there to check without getting covered by them. My blossoms now look wilted like the ants are biting them. I don't outwardly see any aphids but I haven't really looked closely.

  1. well i dont know if this work for ants but is works for birds and stiff plant onions by the plants and t think so they hurt them

  2. It sounds like they are dining on your plants.  You can eliminate the ants by using a mix of cinnamon and sugar. The ants will pick up the sugar, along with the cinnamon, and take it back to their queen. Ants can’t digest cinnamon and once the queen dies from not being able to digest the cinnamon the colony will die without her.

  3. ants can be devastating to most all plants, especially if they burrow and attack the root system. If you don't want to use an insecticide( such as sevin dust) then make a solution of water and dish detergent and mist leaves and blossoms. SOAP KILLS all  bugs!

  4. Prepare a mild soap and water mixture in a spray bottle and apply to your plants on a weekly basis, and after it rains.  This will keep you nice and ant free without the use of pesticides.
