Question:

Ants are eating my tomatoes! What is the best homemade insecticide?

I have never herd of ants eating to matoes but when I picked one there was a whole in the side of it, and ants crawling in the whole.

  1. I don't think ants like tomatoes, maybe they are just cross pollinating the flowers?

    Possibly a bird pecked a hole in the tomato and then the ants came in....that is what I think happened. Still I am surprised that they eat them.

    You could try a weak dish detergent solution...

As weird as this sounds, I sprayed MY tomatoes with LISTERINE!  I had these gnats that were taking tiny bites out of them; and it worked!   Avon Skin-So-Soft also works on ants, so you might put some paper towels soaked with it around the plants (or on the edges of the pot, if they're in pots)

  3. I've heard that planting marigolds next to your tomatoes that helps repel bugs
