Question:

Ants in indoor pot plants - what to do?

My sister has ants in her indoor pot plants - I told her to use ant sand in the base to get rid of them, but she's not sure what to do about the soil now that it has a dead ant home in it. She's not sure if her plant will die. Any ideas? Also, does anyone know of any other ideas for getting rid of them if they come back or get into other plants?

  1. Ants in your inside potted plants is serious. Here's what needs to be done.

    1. Take all infested plants outside.

    2. Move all infested plants from outside to a trash can located at least 10 feet from the home.

    3. Don't bring in any more infested plants.

Bringing in, or leaving in, infested plants is just asking... no... begging for trouble.

Throw the infested plants away and take measures to keep ants out of the house. This seems to be one of those instances where people wait until their home is absolutely infested, crawling with insects from top to bottom before they do anything at all about it.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

  2. re pot plants after shaking the roots to rid them of ants and they should be fine.ants usually like the outdoors

  3. I use mortien ant sand, it doesn't kill the plant, but if you have indoor pets like a cat or dog it would poison them if they do eat it.
