  1. Another option which I use, chemicals, it works like a charm for any kind of ants and I swear by it, Raid Ant Killer Liquid by Johnson and Johnson. Just a couple of tiny puddles around your plant, NOT IN THE EARTH, but on a plate or something near your plants and the ants go crazy for the stuff, eating it all up and after 1 or 2 days no more ants!

  2. Diatomaceous earth. From the garden center. It is not a poison, it works by mechanical action, drying the bugs when they walk into it. Only trouble is when it gets wet it is not effective. Sprinkle on surface when soil has dried a bit. Make a ring around the pot after you have eliminated them (maybe after using poison) and they can't enter. I did that around the edge of my whole porch, worked like a charm and also keeps other crawlers out. Don't let your kids or dogs sniff it, it is not healthy to inhale.

  3. I answered another similar question with the same answer. I use instant grits to rid myself of ants.  instant not the quick cook variety. its non-chemical  and it seems to work.
