Anup Sridhar penetrates into the second round of the Austrian International Challenge 2011
In the opening round of the Austrian International Challenge 2011, Indian badminton player, Anup Sridhar, defeated his opponent Tatsuya Watanabe of Japan, at Vienna, Austria.
The Indian shuttler took only 23 minutes to get rid of the Japanese in a straight-set match and booked his place in the second round, where he will meet Kenn Lim of Malaysia.
Anup was playing at his best, as he was dominant throughout the match. Right from the start of the game, the Indian remain ahead of Tatsuya and never let his opponent to fight back in any of the two games. Anup took a lead in the opening points of the first
set. He started to build more and more pressure on the Japanese who was struggling for every single point. Anup is one of the most aggressive players in the world, who is famous for his powerful smashes.
The Indian shuttler manipulated all of the weaker areas of his opponent and finished the opening set with a huge difference of 21-11. In the second set, Anup was even better as compared to the opening game. He was quite comfortable with the conditions of
the court and dictated the pace of the game by controlling the rallies in the whole set.
The Japanese shuttler struggled very hard but remained unable to bridge the gap between him and the superb, Anup Sridhar. The Indian shuttler finished the game with a remarkable margin of 21-9 score on the board. The easy first round win in the Men’s Singles
category has pushed Anup into the second round of the Austrian International Challenge 2011.
In the second round of the event, Anup will be playing against Kenn Lim, a talented shuttler from Malaysia. Kenn participated in this event as a qualifier and after winning all of his matches in the qualifying round, he played against the number eight seed
of the event, Valeriy Atrashchenkov of Ukraine.
The Malaysian shuttler was just incredible in his first round match, as he took 55 minutes to get rid of the seeded player of Ukraine in a three-set match. In the opening set of the match, the Ukraine shuttler remained ahead of the Malaysian and grabbed
the first game by a 21-17 margin.
In the next set, Kenn fought back and levelled the match by clinching it with a remarkable score of 21-14. The third and final set showcased the superb skills of the Malaysian shuttler, as he crushed his opponent and won the game by a stunning 21-9 difference.
In the second round match, Anup Sridhar and Kenn Lim will be fighting to book their place in the quarter-final stage. The Indian is determined to move forward for gaining points to get a better standing in the world rankings.
