Pakistani fast bowler, Anwar Ali, has said that the SAARC T20 Tournament is a great opportunity for him to make an impression on the selectors and to make a comeback in the senior team. The fast bowler from Karachi is eyeing the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012 in Sri
Lanka.
Anwar made his debut for Pakistan in a T20 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 in 2008; however, the fast bowler has been ignored since then. The 23-year-old cricketer came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country as he represented Pakistan in the 2006 Under-19
World Cup and made a name for himself as someone who can drastically swing the new ball.
However, consistent performances at the domestic level have forced the selectors to give him an opportunity in the under-25 team for the tournament in Maldives. Anwar is extremely excited to have been given this chance to impress the selectors and expressed
that playing for Pakistan is a great honour. He is geared up to do well for his country in the tournament.
Anwar said, "I'm very pleased at being selected for this tournament and I'm really looking forward to it. It's such an honour to play for one's country in any format of the game and at any level and this is a tournament that all the boys are really looking
forward to competing in."
The right-arm fast bowler, who is also more than handy with the bat and can hit the ball very hard, has so far played 51 first-class matches in which he had grabbed 176 scalps at an average of 29.27 runs per innings. He is a talented bowler and must improve
on this average, if he wants to strengthen his claim for a spot in the senior team.
Anwar added that the team is balanced under the captaincy of Test cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Amin-c94597 and feels that the Green Shirts will have a good chance in the tournament.
“We have a very balanced squad with no obvious weaknesses and I'm sure all of the boys will be eager to impress the selectors. It really is a great opportunity for all of us to impress the selectors especially given that there is a Twenty20 World Cup next
year,” he added.
