I have been a sufferer for 12-years and am doing well. My blog is dedicated to help. I will be updating my blog every 5-7 days on new ways to cope anxiety. I have just made few good entries on coping - I hope it will help you.

I started out taking prozac 20mg daily.. then it dropped to 10mg and now I am just taking 5mg and still doing very well. I might be considering taking medication off my life.

  2. Be wary of a doctor who only considers drugs (anti-depressants) as a solution.  You should probably see a psychologist as well to talk about your anxiety.

    Some other tips:

    Take a hot bath.

    Try yoga or meditation.

Move your bed (sounds weird but it worked for me, you get a different perspective of your bedroom).

Try looking at nice photos before sleeping (of a beach works for me).  Get a book on meditation.

Read the bible if you are religious.

Try sleeping with th TV on (watch a comedy and forgot your worries, eventually you'll fall asleep during a show),

Eat a fod that comforts you before bed (just a snack though), maybe some ice cream or a cookie.

If you have a cat or dog see if they will sleep with you or at least lay with you, you can pet him or her until you fall asleep.

Write down each thing that you worry about and write down a few possible solutions or a time frame for when it will end.  For example, I am nervous about a job interview that I have this week, I already prepared my outfit and practiced some common interview question, but I am still worried so I wrote it down and put Aug. 11th after it because that's the day of the interview and I can't do anymore about it until then.

Put on a CD of relaxing music (I like the ocean waves)

  3. I am the same, I worry about EVERYTHING

    so you're not alone

I was offered anti-depressants a couple of years ago, but I refused cause I'd heard bad things about them

But there are sleeping tablets and stuff the doctors can give you too

    See what they say :)

  4. Change your perspective.  Go see a good movie or rent a favorite video, take a walk outside, if it's nice.  Practice a hobby.  Pray, both to be healed and to get better.

There are currently medicines a psychiatrist can prescribe for you.  I'd recommend seeing a psychiatrist for medications and a psychologist or social worker for talk therapy.  And don't worry about this excessively: leave it in God's hands and trust in Him while taking prudent steps to solve this problem.  Everyone has problems, you are just very familiar with your own.

  5. Hopefully the doctor can give you something but until then, there are things that can help, I can only remember one right now.

Breathe in the scent of lemon balm, that can help

  6. Wow, you're so like me... I'm 14 too =)

I suffer from depression, anxiety and social anxiety disorder. I recently hit rock bottom.

My parents have been getting so angry at me about my loss of appetite and loss of sleep from depression. I haven't left the house in weeks. My parents don't really understand...

But anyway, I think anti-depressants will help, but they have side effects that can sometimes be fatal, and can be addictive. The doctor may be reluctant to give them to you especially as you are only 14.

I actually do not agree with taking medication. I understand that in some cases it is needed, especially those of bipolar disorder. But I think it is not used cautiously enough and it is not taken seriously enough. I believe there has to be another option. There is therapy for depression and anxiety which has proven very helpful. Always remember that there is another option. I think there is almost always another option than drugs.

    EDIT: --

I take a NATURAL sleeping tablet called 'Melatonin' I find that quite useful. Sometimes I have to take two though and realllly try to relax. It's totally natural, you should research it, it's not too hard to find, we buy it in Ireland, I'm sure it's in UK and USA too.

  7. I think the best thing to do is what your doing - go see a doctor. Also, you may want to enroll in a relaxing meditation/yoga class. This might help you relax and help you take your mind off things. Also, you might want to seek help from a psychiatrist.

I hope this helps and I have lots of sympathy for you!

    Good luck and feel better!

  8. I used to feel the same way. Please take this into consideration. It worked for me, although I am not you.

I had overwhelming anxiety. It turned out to be my use of Splenda. Yup Splenda. How could something that taste so good, be so bad?

I like to say sucralose, not Splenda, because that is what Splenda is. And it is in a lot of stuff. Sadly, the package doesn't have to say Splenda or diet to have sucralose in it. You have to read labels. So, you might be using it and don't even know it!

Sucralose is poison. It ruined five years of my life. I had a laundry list of medical problems while taking it, including overwhelming anxiety, depression, mood swings, insomnia, gastrointestinal issues and more.

Go ahead, google: anxiety splenda or anxiety sucralose or insomnia splenda or insomnia sucralose

The slogan, "Made from sugar..." is very misleading. Splenda might be made from sugar, but it is far from sugar. The resulting chemical is an organochloride (chlorocarbon). Organochlorides are typically poisons.

carbon monoxide - made from oxygen so its like a breath of fresh air
